Religious life of the School

Jesus Christ is the Lord of the Dudley High School, and therefore recognizes his presence daily through 8am silent prayer time where students and teachers stand to offer silent prayer from 8.00 to 8.01am just before class devotion. Class devotion is one of the most important activity in school, for having to start the day with Jesus fills the day with hope, and blessings.  Devotion books provides meditation for reflection and hymns for singing.

One of the greatest privilege’s in school such as Dudley is the opportunity to serve the Lord God, teach openly his Word, and share one’s faith. Through these many children have come to realize the need for God in their lives, to be strong in their faith in Jesus and living the Word daily. Therefore, many students have made that commitment in receiving Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal Savior. It is always a joy to see how these children are interested about their relationship with the living Lord and do take time to visit the prayer room.

Despite the fact that students do come from different Christian denomination with different teachings and doctrine, the only thing that matters most is for a child is except Jesus and to build a living relationship with him. We are grateful that the school is also part of the SUIS program where students openly share their testimonies, worship freely through songs, music and action choruses.

Chaplains Message

Mark 4: 35-41 “Jesus is our Hope in life’s storms.”

Some parts of Fiji are still recovering from cyclone Harold and also as the result of covid 19, many have been laid off from work. It is one of the most challenging times where most of us wrestle with the question why does God allow all this suffering to happen and why now when all has been well?

Many will choose to be angry, curse, have self-pity, or even blame God as the cause of all problems. Jesus rebuked the raging wind and the storm at the lake Galilee and they both submitted to Jesus command. Often in the storms of life, Jesus is right there with each one of us. All we need to do is to call upon him and he will speak peace into our lives.

Do not be mentally defeated by the problems you encounter but have faith that Jesus is there with you and will still the storms in your life. The presence of the problems and storms of life does not mean the absence of God. God is still on the throne, trust his words, promises and keep the faith. God is our very present help in times of need..

AMEN.

Bible studies are conducted during Christian Education class. Psalms 119: 9 “How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word.”

The Bible club will be a new platform for students to engage themselves in memorizing and studying the Word of God. Equipping students with the Word of God is one of the basis in nurturing their faith in God and in building a foundation where students will value the Word of God and therefore speak and declare the Word into their daily lives.

Students at all levels will participate and the department will see the implementation of the Bible Bee Club. Students will be given bible passages to study, meditate, memorize and recite. The Bible Bee club will recognize students’ initiatives and therefore award children’s effort thus influencing other students to participate.

The bible quiz is also part of the Bible Club and it will be conducted in level wise to increase the interest of the students in the Word of God.

Psalms 119: 105 “Thy Word is a lamp into my feet and a light unto my path.”

The existence of the ‘Scripture Union in Schools’ (SUIS) is for students to have a living relationship with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The SUIS fellowships in school every Wednesday at lunch time. SUIS volunteers conducts the fellowship and it is a blessed time of prayer, sharing testimonies, singing choruses with music and listening to the Word and its reflection. The fellowships encourage student’s faith in God and are also inspired through others student’s faith journey stories.

Rallies and camps are part of the year program organized by the SUIS Group. This are opportunities for students to explore Gods greater plan for their lives. Christian leaders, speakers and counsellors do avail themselves to such events for the purpose of helping, guiding, assisting and empowering students in their journey of faith. So, join in and be part of the exciting program design just for you.
